Representatives of DRIVER and LIBER, the Association of European research libraries, have signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding' on Wed, August 29 2007, in which they both stress the importance of the visibility, application and impact of European research output, and express the need for a European infrastructure for repositories. Scientific repositories are an important development in the world of scientific communication, because they make research data acessible and store these data for the long term.
